Cypriot politician best known for serving as the eighth president of Cyprus. Before his presidential role began in 2023, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, Spokesman of the Cypriot Government and a diplomat for many years. He has also previously been a professor, teaching courses in politics and history.
Before Fame
He studied economics and Byzantine & Modern Greek studies at Queens College City University of New York, and then studied political science at New York University. He furthered his education in political science by earning an additional master's degree at the University of Malta. Finally, he earned PhD in political science from the University of Athens.
Trivia
He has written two books, titled "Plans for the solution of the Cyprus problem, 1948-1978" and "Relations between Athens and Nicosia and the Cyprus problem, 1977-1988".
Family Life
He married fellow politician Philippa Karsera, and they have four children.
