An island country located south of the Anatolian Peninsula in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean. Human activity on the island dates to around the 10th millennium BC.
The world's oldest wine label, Commandaria, belongs to Cyprus. A rare variety of sheep, the Cyprus Moufflon, is located there. It was the first nation to include the shape of its country on its flag.
