Highly decorated sprinter who famously earned the gold medal in the 60-meter event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in 2024. Likewise, she has earned distinctions such as becoming the North American indoor record holder for the 60-meter event at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and becoming the first female athlete in the NCAA to have broken the 7-second limit over the 60-meter. She has won multiple individual NCAA Division I championships and 1st place honors from the Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as the World Indoor Championships. 

Before Fame

After completing her secondary education in the year 2018, she went on to attend the University of Texas, where she ran for the Texas Longhorns and earned her bachelor's degree in youth & community studies. During her junior athletic career, she earned the 100-meter event championship at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas. She also took home the 2018 Youth Olympic Games silver medal. 

Trivia

Some of her most prolific distinctions have included being named the Women's Indoor National Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association in 2023. That same year, she was also named Big 12 Athlete of the Year. 

Family Life

She was born and raised in the island nation of St. Lucia, where her family remained when she traveled to Texas to attend college. Her competition in the 2023 NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, which led to her victory in the 60- and 200-meter events, marked the first time that anyone in her family had been able to watch her race throughout her entire collegiate career.

She was named Big 12 Athlete of the Year in 2023 along with Texas Christian University football star Max Duggan. That same year, her time of 10.89 seconds in the Istvan Gyulai Memorial 100-meter event helped her break the record previously held by American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson.
