Professional soccer player well-known for playing as a defensive midfielder for the Austrian Bundesliga club Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub (LASK). He was loaned to the team for the 2023-24 season by the Serie A soccer club Associazione Sportiva Roma, with which he made his professional debut in May of 2021. He's also played for the Gambia national team since 2021.
Before Fame
After ending up in Italy following a six-month journey from his home in The Gambia, he was taken in by the SPRAR Italian ministry of the Interior as an unaccompanied underage migrant. He found himself in the city of Rieti, where he began his youth career with the amateur club Young Rieti in 2016. The following year, he joined Roma's youth team and signed his first contract with Roma just after his 18th birthday.
Trivia
He helped Roma win the UEFA Europa Conference League competition in its 2021-22 season. He also assisted in the Gambia national team's victory in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which also marked the team's first continental tournament.
Family Life
He left his home country of The Gambia alone to flee the famine when he was just 14 years old. In June of 2021, a video of his emotional reunion with his mother after five years apart went viral on social media.
