Dan D'Antoni

About

Italian-American basketball coach who spent three decades as the head coach at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He later served as an assistant coach with NBA teams like the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Before Fame

He was born in Mullens, West Virginia and played college basketball at Marshall University. He was later inducted into the Marshall University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Trivia

During his time at Socastee, he founded the Beach Ball Classic, a prominent east coast high school basketball tournament.

Family Life

He has worked as an assistant to his younger brother, NBA basketball coach Mike D'Antoni. His father is legendary high school basketball coach Lewis D'Antoni.

He and Donnie Jones have both been the head men's basketball coach at Marshall University.
