The franchise's aesthetics draw heavily from post-war culture of the 1950s United States. It began as an isometric roleplaying game and has transitioned into a sprawling open 3D world. Amazon adapted the games into the successful Fallout TV show in 2024.
Trivia
The games were originally created by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky under the banner of Interplay Entertainment. They are now developed by Bethesda Softworks under Todd Howard.
