Originally the Devil Rays, the team reached the 2008 World Series where they were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Trivia
The team was run by manager Joe Maddon from 2006 to 2014 and he received AL Manager of the Year honors in both 2008 and 2011. After his time in Tampa, Maddon became manager of the Chicago Cubs and he led the team to a World Series title in 2016.
