A school-age Cuban-American girl sets out to pursue her goal of becoming the future President of the United States. The show was created by Ilana Peña and Gina Rodriguez served as an executive producer through her company I Can & I Will Productions.

The series is presented through a collection of voice-overs by the central character. Gina Rodriguez starred as the older version of the character.
