Before Fame
He got enrolled for pre-university college at Dhanamanjuri College of Arts and completed his PUC in 1962. In 1965, he joined the Mizo National Front freedom movement, while in his last year of college.
Trivia
In 1987, he joined the Mizoram Legislative Assembly as Minister of Finance and Education. From December 1998 to December 2008, he served as the Chief Minister of Mizoram for two consecutive terms. He also served as Secretary to then-President Laldenga.
Family Life
He is the second youngest child of eight children. He has four brothers and three sisters. In February 1988, he married Roneihsangi. They have one son named Rothansiama and a daughter named Milari.
