Ziaur Rahman

Politician, military officer, and founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party who was the President of Bangladesh from 1977 to 1981. He was assassinated by a group of army officers and has since become a martyr in his country.

Before Fame

He reached the rank of Lieutenant General while serving in the Bangladesh Army and fought in the independence war of 1971.

Trivia

He used his military expertise to rise to the presidency after the 1975 coup.

Family Life

He got married to Khaleda Zia in 1960. The couple had two children.
