About

Polish singer and guitarist known for producing disco polo music. He founded the Akcent band in 1989 with fellow member, Mariusz Anikiej. They released 15 studio albums and are known for such hits as "Gwiazda", "Desire for Love" and "Queen of the Night" which is a cover of a song by the Meffis group. In the 90s, he formed another group with whom he released three albums, and he released two albums as a solo artist starting in 1994. 

Before Fame

He was raised on a farm in a very musical family, with a grandmother and a mother who sang and uncles who played in music bands at county parties. He is self-taught and has never attended a formal music school. After 8th grade, he began performing for money at weddings and other public events. He graduated from the 4th Secondary School in Białystok and from a school in Bielsk Podlaski, focusing on Economic Study. He was picked up to join a band after being spotted during a wedding performance. 

Trivia

He can sing in three languages: Romani, Belarusian and Russian. He starred in the biographical film Zenek and made cameo appearances in the film MiszMasz, and the TV series Lombard: Life Under Collateral. His akcentpolska Facebook page has 230,000 followers. He posts about upcoming concerts and lets fans know where to buy tickets. He also shares articles written about him and other disco polo highlights.

His parents are Bazyli and Teresa Martyniuk and his sister Wioletta is three years older than him.
