Yvette Cason

American actress, entertainer, artist, and performer who is known for her work in the films Dreamgirl (2006), Middle of Nowhere (2012), and A Wrinkle in Time (2018). She is also known for her work in the shows The Gaze: No Homo (2020), Bosch: Legacy (2022), Curb Your Enthusiasm (2021), and ER (2005).  

Before Fame

She attended the Sewell Music Conservatory in Washington, DC. She first worked as an understudy in the original 1981 Broadway musical Dreamgirls. 

Trivia

She was crowned Miss Black America D.C. in the year 1981. She toured on Broadway during the 1980s before focusing on film and television work in the 1990s. Cason played Dahlia, the wicked stepmother, in the original 1996 run of Sisterella. It was said that the character was played "with exquisite relish" by Cason.

She was born and raised in the United States.

She appeared in an episode of The King of Queens (1998) starring Kevin James, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller. She acted alongside Beyoncé in Dreamgirl (2006).
