Japanese anime artist and animation producer. He was known for his internationally successful adaptation of the Naruto manga series into an anime phenomena. His company also produced the anime series Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, Time Bokan!, and the cult favorite Lily C.A.T. His posthumously run studio remains one of the most successful in the Japanese anime industry.

Trivia
He was bestowed many awards in his lifetime from the Japanese government, including the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award and the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor. His animation company was named Studio Pierrot, French for "Studio Clown." His company also produced numerous feature films. He was also a fan of the circus.
Family Life
His Japanese name is 布川ゆうじ. His family were tailors, as was he prior to becoming an animator.
