In 2012, he was convicted of attempted murder and fraud in Chile but only served a little under two years in prison. In 2017, he was convicted of fraud in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica but was again quickly released.

Prior to becoming a career criminal, he served ten years in the Royal Danish Navy.
