Before Fame

He medaled in five wrestling world championships, attaining gold in 1999. He also won silver in the 2000 Olympics for freestyle wrestling.

Trivia

He was trained by Sergej Kuftin and Zike Simic in Germany before fighting MMA. He has over 1.2 million followers on his yoelromeromma Instagram account.  

Family Life

He has a younger brother named Yoan Pablo Hernández that is a Cruiserweight Champion in professional boxing.
