He was born Eduardo Sarante. His parents are Ángel Sarante and María Perdomo, and he is the seventh of nine children. His brother Yoskar Sarante is one of the most prominent bachata performers in the Dominican Republic. He dated Aracelis Mateo, who served as his manager.
