Kashmiri separatist leader and former militant best known for advocating for the separation of Kashmir from both India and Pakistan. He is the chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, which originally spearheaded armed militancy in the Kashmir Valley.
Before Fame
He completed his graduation from S. P. College. In the year 1980, he formed a party called the Tala Party, which created a revolutionary front and printed and distributed political materials and caused disturbances.
Trivia
In May of 2022, he was convicted by the NIA Court on charges of conspiracy and waging war against the state. He was sentenced to two counts of life imprisonment, as well as five ten-year prison sentences.
Family Life
His father is Ghulam Qadir Malik, who died in 2012. He has three sisters including Amina Malik. She has advocated for better prisoner's rights for him at the Tihar Jail. He has been married to Mushaal Hussein Mullick since 2009. They have a daughter named Raziyah Sultana.
Associated With
In January of 2016, he wrote a letter to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif opposing Gilgit-Baltistan's merger with Pakistan.
