Before Fame
He attended school at Friends Seminary. His first book "Where a Nickel Costs a Dime" was published in 1996.

He has taught at Phillips Exeter Academy. He is the winner of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly Award for Poetry, and the New York City Book Award. His work has also been highlighted by The New Yorker, PBS Newshour, and and NPR.
