Willie Logan

Remembered as the youngest mayor elected in the United States during the early 1980s, this Democrat-turned-Independent took office at age twenty-three as Mayor of Opa-locka, Florida. He also served in the Florida House of Representatives and led an unsuccessful United States Senate campaign.

Before Fame

After graduating from the University of Miami in the late 1970s, he briefly worked in the insurance industry before beginning his political career.

Trivia

He was arrested in Miami Beach in 2001 for both marijuana possession and indecent exposure; the charges were later dropped.

Family Life

He was born and raised in the northern part of Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Associated With

His loss of a 1998 caucus election resulted in conflict with many of his fellow Florida Democrats; as a result, he supported the gubernatorial campaign of Republican politician Jeb Bush.
