American playwright known for the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and the play Catch Me If You Can. He also wrote for animated series such as Dinky Dog, The All-New Super Friends Hour, and The New Scooby-Doo Movies. His final writing project was the 1980 animated movie, Yogi's First Christmas.

Before Fame

He was a humor writer for the Glenville High School newspaper, The Torch. While there, he worked alongside future playwright Jerome Lawrence.

Trivia

In 1962, he won two Tony Awards for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. His longtime collaborator, Jack Weinstock, was also his physician. After earning a degree in education, he moved to New York City to pursue a career comedy as a career.
