A long, illustrious career in the performing arts in London. His most recent claims to fame are as the role Dad for both series of Fleabag, and he's been cast as Lyman Beesbury in HBO's continuation of the story of Game of Thrones in the prequel series House of Dragon set to premiere in August 2022.
Before Fame
His first career was in construction before he shifted gears to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. In the 1960s he focused on theater; in the 1970s his television career began which would remain the basis of most of his career, and in the 1980s began to appear in films.
Trivia
He's also done a number of radio plays through his strong connections with the BBC.
Family Life
In 1984 he married German costumer and set designer Hildegard Bechtler. They have two children together, a son and a daughter. He resides in London.
Associated With
He came to be known in the States once Fleabag took off in a spectacular fashion and came back around for a second and finale season written by the marvelous Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
