American fiction author who was known for his mystery novels starring the character of Father Robert Koesler. Most well-known of the 24 books is "The Rosary Murders," which was adapted into a film in 1987.

Before Fame

Before becoming an author, he was an ordained priest of the Catholic church. He spent twenty years as a parish priest in Michigan.

Trivia

He left the priesthood due to the church's refusal to remarry divorcees. In 1980, he was a National Award Fiction finalist for The Rosary Murders. Many of his novels are set in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout his life, he penned more than 20 books.

He married his wife Javan Herman Andrews after leaving the priesthood.
