He dropped out of school while living with his mother in New York because she was an alcoholic and abusive.

He either produced or directed over two dozen series, and he won one Emmy for Bewitched out of his four nominations.

Family Life

He was married to Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery with whom he had three children. He was also married to Joyce Bulifant and Danni Sue Nolan. He adopted son John Asher who became an actor and director. His last wife was Meredith Coffin McMachen before he passed away.

He and Frank Sinatra planned President John F. Kennedy's 1961 inaugural address.
