American author and writer who is best known for his 1987 book Communion, which recounts his alleged encounters and abductions with alien beings. A film based on the book that stars Christopher Walken was released in the year 1989. Later, less successful thrillers by Strieber include Billy (1990), The Wild (1991), Unholy Fire (1992), and The Forbidden Zone (1993).

In the year 1968, he graduated from the University of Texas and the London School of Film Technique.

He has appeared on a number of episodes of Ancient Aliens. He was a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the year 1987. His horror novels The Wolfen and The Hunger were also given film adaptations.

His father Karl Strieber worked as a lawyer. His late wife Anne was portrayed by Lindsay Crouse in 1989's Communion.
