Former professional baseball player who was named the best defensive first baseman in baseball in 2007. During his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he won the National League Gold Glove Award for first base for six consecutive years and became the only Dodger in history to have earned the All-Time Gold Glove Team Award. After retiring from Major League Baseball in 1972, he played with the Nippon Professional Baseball Pacific League's Nankai Hawks for one season.

Before Fame

After transferring from Claremont Men's College, he earned a bachelor's degree in history from University of Southern California. He made his professional debut playing for the Dodgers on April 19, 1964.

Trivia

In 1974, he became one of only four players in baseball history to have earned the prestigious Gold Gloves in both MLB and NPB. After retiring from baseball, he briefly pursued a career as an actor, during which time he portrayed a notable role on an episode of The Brady Bunch.

He was born the son of Mary (nee Joslyn) and Maurice Wesley Parker Jr. He was their middle child, with a younger brother named Lyn and an older sister named Celia.
