Criminal who kidnapped, raped, and murdered Sarah Everard. At the time of her killing, he was serving as a London Metropolitan police officer in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command. Everard was walking home to the Brixton Hill area of London when he stopped her and arrested her on false pretenses. He was stationed at the US Embassy prior to her murder. Couzens was a given a whole-life sentence by the British courts in September of 2021.

He was arrested in March of 2021, six days after Everard disappeared. 

Trivia

In July of 2021, The Daily Mail reported that Couzens had shot his cousin at the age of 14. He was also charged with indecent exposure when he was arrested for killing Everard. In the summer of 2022, he lost an appeal to have his life-sentence overturned.

Family Life

He was married at the time of his arrest for the Everard murder. According to media outlets, friends and acquaintances described him as a devoted father to his children.
