Wanda Vázquez Garced

Former Governor of Puerto Rico and politician that served from the date of August of 2019 until the date of January of 2021. She was also the 19th elected Secretary of Justice for Puerto Rico. She is a Republican and a member of the New Progressive Party. 

Before Fame

Prior to her political career, she attended the University of Puerto Rico. Shortly after graduating, she then enrolled into the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law.

Trivia

In August of 2019, she became the second ever female governor to serve for Puerto Rico. The first was Sila María Calderón. On March 12, 2020, Vázquez declared a state of emergency for Puerto Rico and activated the Puerto Rican National Guard as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Puerto Rico.

Family Life

She lives along with her husband, Jorge, and their two children. She is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
