Croatian politician and poet known for his contributions to the Yugoslav national consciousness. He wrote over 500 poems that incorporate a wide range of stylistic tendencies. In politics, he was the first President of the Presidium of the Croatian Parliament and the first Speaker of the Croatian Parliament.

His works have been translated into German, Slovenian, Italian, and Hungarian, among other languages. A prize for arts and culture, the Vladimir Nazor Award, was established in his honor. In the early part of his career, he earned notoriety in Croatia by writing about legends and folk stories.
