Influential painter who belonged to a group of Croatian modernist artists known as the Munich Four. He was known for his oils and watercolors of landscapes, shepherds, and peasants in the village of Blažuj near Sarajevo.
Before Fame
He studied at the Academy of Arts in Munich and later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.

He painted a series of images of wounded soldiers from World War I during his time as a war artist on the Salonika Front.
