About

Playwright, writer, author, and novelist best known for the play Trick for Trick which was made into a 1933 Hollywood film. She also wrote a popular book called The Pitchman. In the 1920s, she joined the film studio RKO Radio as a script writer. 

Before Fame

She first performed in a vaudeville dance scene at age three. As a child, she learned to play the violin. 

Trivia

In the year 1939, she was seriously injured in a fire caused by a gas heater in her bathroom. She had multiple skin grafts. The Pitchman was the first screen writing contract Cosby picked up after her recovery and also the first production for the newly formed Jimmy Dunn Productions, with the story being about spieler presenters. She was pronounced fully recovered after three and a half years, whereupon she immediately signed up for three different screen writing contracts for upcoming films.

Family Life

Her parents were Richard Cosby and Susan L. Dodsworth. In the year 1922, she was engaged to librettist Erving Plummer.
