American horn player who served as a studio musician for many Hollywood soundtracks and other recordings from 1935 until his retirement in 2008. He often played with Frank Sinatra. He passed away in July of 2022.
Before Fame
He started playing the horn at the age of ten, studying with Peter Di Lecce, principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

His horn playing appears in many movies, such as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Rocky, and Days of Wine & Roses. He got his professional start at 17 playing in the horn section at 20th Century Fox.
Family Life
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, but his family moved to Chicago about a year after his birth. In 1932, the family moved to Los Angeles. His father was a professional clarinetist and his mother a singer. His uncle was Vincent De Rubertis, an accomplished French horn player who also appeared on several Frank Sinatra albums.
