Italian soccer player and coach who played goalkeeper and later trained other goalies, notably under head coach Carlo Ancelotti at AC Milan and Real Madrid. He died in 2022.
Before Fame
He played with AC Milan from 1967 to 1974. He then joined Como in 1976, where the team mostly struggled in Serie B and Serie C1 before making it to Serie A in 1980, where they remained for one season.
Trivia
He was given the nickname the "Hero of Thessaloniki" after he shut out Leeds United in the European Winners' Cup in 1973 in Greece. As goalkeeping coach under Ancelloti, Vecchi developed Dida and Gianluigi Buffon into two of the best keepers in the world.
