About
Singer and politician best known for Croatian patriotic songs, "My Hometown's Bells," "Croatian Countryside" and "Your Land." He was one of the most popular singers in Yugoslavia in the 1960's. He appeared at the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 with the song "Ships" and at the Eurovision Song Contest 1965 with the song "Longing."
Before Fame
He is from Šibenik, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He started his professional career in 1959 when he won the Opatija Music Festival with the song "Rivers Are Calmly Flowing."
Trivia
He became a Croatia independent candidate on the Social Democratic Party ticket in 2003. He made a musical comeback with 14 sold-out concerts at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in 1989.
Family Life
He married Diana Vukov in 1961. They had two children together.
