Former women's artistic gymnast and athlete that primarily competed in the team all-around, balance beam and uneven bars events. She was a member of the Soviet Union women's national team during the 1980's. During those years, she competed in the Goodwill Games, the Universiade and the World Championships.
Before Fame
She initially joined the Soviet Union women's national team in the year 1982. She was just 14 years old at the time.
Trivia
She won her first career gold medal during the 1985 World Championships in Montreal, Canada. She later won her second, third and fourth career gold medals during the 1986 Goodwill Games in Moscow, Russia.
Family Life
She lives along with her husband, Alexander, and their children in Voronezh, Russia. She is the mother of Viktoria Komova, who won two silver medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
