Before Fame
He attended London South Collegiate Institute in Canada. He had wanted to go to Michigan State University, but failed to qualify due to academic transcript issues. He then enrolled at Milford Academy, a preparatory school in New York. He later returned to Ontario and played for the University of Western Ontario. He was taken in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Chargers (formerly the San Diego Chargers).
Trivia
He was the first Canadian university player to be drafted by the NFL as an underclassman. Two years later, he was taken by Montreal in the CFL draft. After retiring from football he co-founded the Fire & Flower Cannabis Co. His NFL career concluded with him amassing 3 sacks, and over 75 tackles.

He was born in Jamaica and raised by his mother in Toronto and London, Ontario.
