About

Former women's basketball coach that coached professionally from 1965-2011. During his career, he coached collegiate programs such as University of Mississippi and Louisiana State University, as well as the Houston Comets of the WNBA and the United States women's national team. He won a gold medal with Team USA during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. 

Before Fame

Prior to his coaching career, he played college basketball at East Central Junior College in Decatur, Mississippi. He initially began his coaching career at Noxapater High School in Noxapater, Mississippi. 

Trivia

He won four WNBA championships and two gold medals with Team USA during his coaching career. In 2007, he was inducted into the Dr. James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. As coach of the Houston Comets, he helped the team win not only four titles, but also appear in seven consecutive post seasons. He later coached Louisiana State University women's team, and helped the Tigers advance to the Final Four in 2008.

He was born and raised in Louisville, Mississippi. His daughter, Renee, is also a basketball coach.
