About
Soviet-Russian cosmonaut who flew on two missions in the Soyuz program as a flight engineer: Soyuz 6 and Soyuz 19. He also commanded Soyuz 36 in the Intercosmos program. On July 21, 1975, the Soyuz 7K-TM module used for ASTP landed in Kazakhstan at 5:51 p.m. and he was the first to exit the craft.
Before Fame
In 1958, he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute as an aerospace engineer.
Trivia
After retiring from the Russian space program in November 1993, he became the deputy director of RKK Energia. He was also involved in the development of the Mir space station.
Family Life
He was married to Lyudmila Kurovskaya. They had a daughter, Ekaterina and a son, Dmitry.
