Valeriu Munteanu

About

Moldovan politician who held office as the Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party from 2010 to 2018. He served as Minister of the Environment from 2015 to 2017. In 2019, he was elected leader of the Save Bessarabia Union (USB) after resigning from the Liberal Party in 2018. He was elected as a vice president of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians in March 2022. 

Before Fame

He studied law at Valahia University of Târgoviște and graduated in 2003. He also took master's courses at the University in Bucharest in the sociology and social assistance department. He was elected mayor of his hometown Floreni in 2007 and served as the mayor between 2007 and 2009.

Trivia

He speaks Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and English. He was the legislator with the highest number of parliamentary initiatives in the 19th legislative session of the Moldovan Parliament between 2010 and 2014. He is a promoter of playing sports and living a healthy lifestyle. He is also known for filing the bill that changed Moldova's date of celebrating Christmas from January 7th to December 25th.

He married Victoria Munteanu and has four daughters named Camelia, Ilinca, Smaranda, and Crăita.
