Vítek Vaněček

About

NHL goalkeeper that was originally taken by the Washington Capitals as a second round pick in the 2014 Entry Draft. He was later acquired by the New Jersey Devils via trade in July 2022. During his professional career, he has also played hockey in the Czech Republic. 

Before Fame

He initially began his hockey career playing for HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in 2013. He also played for the Czech Republic during the 2015 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. 

Trivia

He made his official NHL debut while playing against the Buffalo Sabres on January 15, 2021. He and the Capitals won the game 2-1. He made the 2020 AHL All-Star classic roster. 

Family Life

Growing up, he lived with his family in the Havlíčkův Brod, Czech Republic area. He now lives along with his wife, Kristýna.

He played alongside Nico Hischier as a member of the New Jersey Devils during the 2022-23 NHL season.
