29 year-old black man who was pulled over for reckless driving in Tennessee in January of 2023, pepper sprayed, tased and battered by five Black officers. His injuries landed him in the hospital, where he died three days later. Multiple investigations were opened on the matter. Later that month, surveillance videos were released, causing public outcry and mass protests when no evidence of reckless driving or violence on his part was found.

He was raised in Sacramento, California and moved to Memphis in 2020. He worked for FedEx. He was an amateur photographer with his own website. He suffered from Crohn's disease, making him markedly underweight. He loved skateboarding and sunsets.
Trivia
Protestors in Memphis blocked traffic on Interstate 55. Other protests were initiated in New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Portland, Atlanta, San Francisco, Boston, Baltimore and Newark. All five offending officers were dismissed and subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.

U.S. President Joe Biden and Tyre's family united in their calls for peaceful protests. Biden also renewed his efforts to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, intended to tackle police misconduct. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and Reverand Al Sharpton were both in attendance at his funeral.
