Trivia
He worked as a draftsman designing oil tankers. After the war he worked as a translator for the occupation forces. He published a book about his life experiences titled Ikasareteiru inochi. He was sent to Hiroshima by his company three months before the bomb droppings. He was sent to work on oil rigs.

He is survived by one child named Toshiko Yamazaki.
