Outfielder/first baseman who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles during the eighth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut in 2016 and spent over six seasons with the Orioles before a 2022 trade sent him to the Houston Astros. He helped the Astros capture the 2022 World Series title.
Before Fame
While at the University of Notre Dame, he was a First Team Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and the Big East Rookie of the Year in 2011. Prior to college, he attended Winter Haven High School.
Trivia
In early 2020, he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He underwent chemotherapy and sat out the entirety of the 2020 MLB season. He announced after the season that he was cancer-free and returned to the Orioles in 2021. He was honored with the AL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2021.
