Canadian playwright best known for the play and television series Da Kink in My Hair. She wrote the books How Black Mothers Say I Love You, and Black Girl In Love (With Herself). She founded Trey Anthony Studios, a television and theater production company. Her work was named one of the top-ten plays in Canadian theatrical history, and received 4 NAACP Theatre awards.
Before Fame
She is of Jamaican descent and was born in London, England. At age 12, she moved to Canada with her mother but was primarily raised by her grandparents. She attended Brampton's Notre Dame High School and went to college at York University.
