Bestselling author of the book Fostered: One Woman's Powerful Story of Finding Faith and Family through Foster Care. She is an advocate for foster care reform and vulnerable populations, including those who have suffered abuse and oppression. She is an inspirational speaker and has addressed conferences, churches, nonprofits, and universities nationwide. 

Before Fame

She faced a difficult childhood, suffering abuse, PTSD, and being moved through 12 different foster homes. While in high school, she discovered track and went on to become a 5-time state champion. She was eventually taken in by her track coach, which inspired her to dedicate her life to her faith and become an advocate for change in the foster system.

Her book Fostered was named one of the Honorable Mentions for Book of the Year by World News Group in 2022. Her torihopepetersen Instagram account shares motivational quotes and photos of her blended family, and currently has 110,000 followers.

Family Life

She married her husband Jacob in 2018, with whom she co-founded the nonprofit organization that helps youth in foster care called Beloved Initiative. Together, they raise two young children, one young adult adopted son, and her biological sister.
