Jazz clarinetist, musician, entertainer, instrumentalist, performer, artist, and bandleader who was known for his band Band of Tomorrow. He was also known for leading the orchestra on several tours with actor, entertainer, and comedian Bob Hope.

Before Fame

He attended the University of Akron prior to finding fame as a professional musician and band leader. He played in the orchestra of Isham Jones before forming his own band. He formed his musical group Band of Tomorrow in the year 1940. 

Trivia

His clarinet-playing style was inspired by Artie Shaw. After dissolving his musical group, After dissolving the group, he became musical director of the radio and television station WOR/WOR-FM/WOR-TV in New York City in the 1950s. His most famous production there was Bandstand USA.

He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio.
