During the 1960s, this American music producer for Columbia Records and Verve/MGM worked on, among other high-profile projects, Bob Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changin' and Bringing It All Back Home albums; Simon & Garfunkel's Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. album; and The Velvet Underground's White Light/White Heat album.

Before Fame

After studying at both Fisk University and Harvard, he established the Transition Records music label and produced jazz musician Sun Ra's debut EP Sun Song.

He and Frank Zappa both contributed as producers to the Mothers of Inventions' 1966 Verve Records album Freak Out!

Family Life

The son of Fannie and Thomas Wilson, he spent his youth in Waco, Texas. He later relocated to Los Angles, California, where he died in his late forties of a heart attack.
