Canadian television producer and writer best known for being the executive producer of America's Funniest Videos and for producing the musical This Strange Paradise (2024). He wrote the official pilot for America's Funniest Videos in 1989. His pilot was a big success and he became the executive producer and frequent writer of the long-running show.

He studied English literature at the University of Western Ontario in London and also studied at York University in Toronto. He moved to Los Angeles, California in the year 1982 to start a career in the entertainment industry.

He produced several animated shows before focusing on game shows. He composed the theme songs to the TV shows Split Second and Let's Make a Deal. He wrote and produced 65 episodes of the animated show Dennis the Menace from 1986-1988.

He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He has two children. He is the uncle of Robin Thicke. His brother was actor Alan Thicke.
