Co-author of the New York Times best-selling Christian book Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back. The book documents his son Colton's claim to have seen Jesus in Heaven before returning to Earth.

He was a summa cum laude graduate from Oklahoma Wesleyan University where he studied Theology.

Trivia

He joined Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Nebraska as the church's pastor. He has volunteered with his local fire department and became the chaplain for the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighter's Association.

Family Life

He married Sonja Burpo and he and Sonja have children named Colton, Colby and Cassie.
