American former competitive figure skater who won the bronzed medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. He was the first person to land a quadruple salchow jump in competition and the first person to land three quadruple jumps all in one program.

Early in his career, he was coached by Carol Heiss Jenkins and Glyn Watts near his Illinois home, and then moved to California to work with Frank Carroll.

During his skating career and prior to the arrival of Nathan Chen to the sport, he was sometimes referred to as the "Quad King" because of his ability to land quadruple jumps. Before getting into figure skating, he worked at a media agency in Manhattan, New York.

He was born in Evanston, Illinois. He was adopted through Catholic Charities by Ginny and Richard Goebel as an infant. In 2017, he married his boyfriend of three years, Thomas Luciano.
