After spending half a year employed at Farrar, Straus, and Giroux in New York in 1970, she relocated to Paris. In 1971 she ventured to Paris to record folk songs at Ossian Studio, which led to her first album.

Family Life
She was born in Columbus, Georgia. She died in Pinehurst, North Carolina. She was buried next to her two brothers, Chris and Peter, in North Hatley, Quebec, Canada.
